Dear Families,
We had a short but productive week in 411! Let us start with giving a HUGE thank you to all our wonderful parent volunteers. Our first field trip of the school year was a success thanks to each and every one of you!! We could not do it without your help. Keep an eye out for information about how to volunteer for our second field trip to the Chicago Child’s Museum which will take place in December (more info to come in the next few weeks!) Our trip to Eden Pumpkin Patch sparked lots of pumpkin inquiry in our classroom this week. After experiencing the pumpkin patch and getting a pumpkin, we had to come back and investigate. We opened up a pumpkin to find out what was inside, we scooped out the guts and seeds and were using vocabulary words such as “slimy”, “gooey”, “slippery” and “fragrant”. Next week we will continue to investigate fall and many of the changes that come along with it. We will look closer at some of the leaves we have found focusing on the changes that are occurring outside our window. Looking for leaves with your child is a great opportunity to increase language development and scientific thinking. Ask your child what they see when they look at the leaf? What color(s) do they see? Why do they think the leaves are changing colors? What do they like about the leaf? Then bring in the cool leaf for us to examine as a class! Upcoming events: Wednesday, November 15th- Parent & Teacher Conference- No regular class
Have a great weekend, Ms. Weinberg and Ms. Moore
