This week we will continue discussing how animals behave in the winter with a focus on adaptation. We will compare how humans adapt to cold weather verse animals. On Monday we will look at our shoes and see how we adapt our feet. For example, we would never wear sandals in the shoe!

This week we will be digging deeper into how animals behave in the winter. We will be learning new vocabulary words such as hibernation, migration and adaptation. We will be sending home some easy to read books for you to enjoy with your preschooler. The students will be sorting animals into different groups based on their winter behavior. We will also be going on a letter search around the room and discussing different shapes and their attributes. This week we will also be talking about what it takes to be a good citizen. We will start awarding a good citizen award at the end of each day. The preschool students will need to decide how is being a good citizen and why. Some reasons why will be sharing a toy, letting someone have a turn first or saying nice things to others. Have a wonderful week, Ms. Weinberg and Ms. Twilley Welcome Back!
Last week we spent our time reviewing classroom routines and discussing friendship. The preschool students have been very interested in what makes a friend and what does not. We were learning some bad habits on how to treat people we consider friends. Last week was the perfect opportunity to revisit how to be a good friend. We made a list of things that good friends do and read books about friendship. In addition, we reviewed ways to solve problems in the classroom. We will continue to revisit friendship throughout the school year or whenever we need a reminder. Please discuss with your child what it means to be a good friend. This week we will begin to discuss all things Winter! (Of course it's warm and rainy this week, which is not great for our Winter discussion.) We will be talking about winter weather, animals in the winter and winter activities. Students in the four year old year are now receiving questions in journals. They will be answering questions and attempting to write their answers with both pictures and phonically sounded out words. Parents are welcome to stay and assist during this time. Urgent need: We are running critically low on all cleaning supplies. We need: -Paper Towels -Hand soap -disinfecting wipes Please consider making a donation! Have a wonderful week, Ms Weinberg and Ms. Twilley |
