Please be patient and know we are looking for the very best for our classroom! What is happening next week in Preschool? Next we will be talking about our families. Students will be practicing having conversations with friends with think-pair-share. The students will be talking and listening to one another during large group time. This is a skill that students will use throughout their schooling and will help them as they grow. We will be reading many books about families including, The Family Book , The Mommy Book, The Daddy Book and The Grandma Book by Todd Parr. We will also be introducing center choice sticks (limiting the number of students that can play in each area of the room), dress up clothes, the writing center and the math centers this week. Questions you can ask your preschool: -(AM CLASS) Who is your 4th grade buddy? -Tell me about music class on Fridays -Who had the most members in their family? -Who has the smallest family? -Who counted the calendar today? -Who is Todd Parr? -What materials did you use in the art area? Have a wonderful week, Ms. Weinberg

By Chris Raschka and Feelings by Aliki. In addition, we will start to discuss our families. We will draw pictures of our families and graph how many members are in our families. It should be a great week! Ms. Weinberg Wow! What a wonderful start to the school year! It was a great week getting to know new friends and connect with friends from last year.
This week we spent our time learning how to use the classroom materials and being introduced to the different areas of the classroom. We are getting use to the routines of the classroom and learning the expectations. We worked together as a class to come up with rules for the loft/upstairs and rules for when we are on the carpet together. We read many different Pete the Cat Stories, David Goes to School, and The Kissing Hand. There is an activity for you to compete with your student located outside the classroom on the shelf. Handouts will be placed there regularly so make sure you check when you do drop off or pick up. This upcoming week we will continue to learn about different areas of the classroom and how to use different materials. We will also start to discuss how we solve problems in our classroom. We encourage the students to resolve their own conflicts by using their words (Bugs and Wishes), walking away, taking a break, taking a balloon breath or finding a new friend. In the classroom we have a wheel of choice that provides us with different choices for solving problems. The books we will be reading to encourage these skills are: When Sophie Gets Angry, Alicia has a Bad Day, and The Recess Queen. Additionally this week we will be learning about one another. We will be doing a Me bag project. A new student everyday will have the opportunity to bring items from home that make them special. Be on the look out for a brown bag, that is how you will know if it your child’s turn! Me Bag Instructions: Dear Families, As part of our attempt to get to know one another better and to create a sense of community in our classroom, I am asking each child to make a ‘Me Bag” to share and present to the class. Here are some rules to follow: • Only bring small items that will fit inside the bag. • The items cannot be too heavy. • Bring no more than 2-3 items. • Special items should tell something important about your child. A photo of your family would be a terrific item to put in the bag! • Please make sure to write your child’s name on the bag and fill out the information sheet. You are welcome to decorate the bag. Everyone will share the items in his or her ‘Me Bag’ to help the class learn more about your child. Please discourage your child from putting an item in the bag simply because it is “cool”. Questions to ask your Preschooler about their day: Preschoolers sometimes forget what they did or don’t know that they are learning. These specific questions can help you get a better idea of their day. By reading this blog weekly you will know what we have been up to and can use these details to ask more detailed questions.
Reminders: -Make sure you check the shelf outside the classroom daily for important information -Sign your child in and out everyday. -Parents are welcome to stay and work on journals with their student. -Please bring in your 3 inch, 3 ring binder ASAP -Bring in any outstanding paperwork Have a wonderful week, Ms. Weinberg |
