Last week we began our student of Fish. The preschoolers are so excited to share their knowledge of this popular family pet. We took a vote on what kind of fish we wanted to get. It was a very close race between a guppy and a goldfish. The Goldfish won! We will have the goldfish move into our classroom next Monday. This week we are setting up the habitat and learning what we need to do to care for our pet goldfish.
This week we will also begin to learn about fruits, vegetables, seeds and plants. We are excited to begin implementing our Garden Bites curriculum in April. This program will allow the children to make their own healthy foods using local ingredients! Week of the Young Child: Get Ready for WOYC! Join us April 8–12, 2019 for five fun-filled, themed days to celebrate of our youngest learners! The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration hosted by NAEYC to spotlight early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. Family Friday: We will have show and tell and Pajama Day! OUTSIDE TIME: The weather has been a roller coaster of cold and warm! We will go outdoors as much as possible please remember to dress your children accordingly. I have included an excerpt from the Chicago Public Schools weather guidelines. Hopefully this will assist you in knowing which days we will be going outdoors. Cold Weather Guidelines Cold air does not make us sick. Germs make us sick. Make sure students are getting outside for recess/ gross motor time at your school! Outdoor recess time allows children to get fresh air, provides an opportunity for children to engage in moderate to vigorous physical activity, and gives students more activity options than most indoor spaces. Please see the following CPS cold weather guidelines for outdoor recess. Cold Weather Guidelines: » Above 32 degrees F with or without wind chill: Recess should be held outdoors. » Between 31 degrees F and 15 degrees F with or without wind chill: Principal discretion. » Below 15 degrees F with or without wind chill: Recess should be held indoors. Upcoming Events:
Have a great week, Ms. Weinberg and Ms. Moore
