WE have had so much fun learning about fish! The Preschoolers learned so much and loving having our own fish to care for. We are going to have a very packed last 8 weeks of school! This week we will be working on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Reading all the different versions and talking about the themes and measurement! In the coming weeks we will also be starting our garden project. Our materials will be arriving via Donors Choose today! We will also be starting the our butterfly unit. We will be very busy but we will be having tons of fun as well.
Additionally, we will be working on filling our bucket with pom poms for positive behavior. Each week the preschoolers have picked out something special that they would like to have for being kind to one another and following the classroom rules. Last week, we earned new Lego people. They will be arriving on Tuesday. This week we are working towards a special music day party! Please remember to put sun screen on your child before they come to school! As the weather continues to warm up we will be outdoors on the playground and in our garden for longer periods of time. Also, please no flip flop sandals are allowed at school. Stubbed toes and skinned knees are no fun! We will begin to take neighborhood walks to Bixler Park and Botany Bond in the next few months. I will be sending home a walking field trip form in the next few weeks. Please keep an eye out for it! Last week we made Lemon Parmesan Popcorn for our Fit Friday healthy snack. This snack was also a hit, that’s 2 in a row! The kids loved the Ranch Dressing last week and they liked the popcorn this week. Here are the ingredients and instructions: Bolded ingredients will be grown and harvested in our Learning Garden in the fall • Plain popcorn, 15 cups • Fresh herbs, 2-3 tablespoons • 2 lemons, juiced • Extra virgin olive oil, 4 tablespoons • Parmesan cheese, 5 tablespoons • Salt and pepper, to taste • Harvest fresh herbs and popcorn from your Learning Garden. • Pop popcorn and chop fresh herbs. • Combine lemon juice, olive oil, salt in pepper in a mason jar and shake until fully combined. • Drizzle over popcorn and toss to coat. • Garnish each serving with Parmesan and fresh herbs. • Serve in a reusable cup, or on a plate, or on a napkin. • List other ways to dress-up popcorn! • Describe the popcorn flavors.
