Dear Families,
Room 411 showed their Ray Spirit this week! A big thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this week extra special. We also continued to study different versions of The Gingerbread Man. This week we compared how tall we are with large and small gingerbread people. We asked questions like, "Why am I more gingerbread tall when the gingerbread people are small?" We also did a cool science experiment to figure out why a gingerbread man can't actually go into the water. We looked at five different objects and how they respond to water. The preschoolers made excellent predictions and enjoyed watching the gingerbread cookie break into pieces. Next week we will finish up our Gingerbread Unit with a culminating celebration on Friday December 22nd. The children are super excited for our Gingerbread Celebration. We are counting down the days. We still need volunteers to assist in decorating our gingerbread cookies. If you are willing to assist please sign up on the sign in sheet (Morning Class 10:30-11:00, Afternoon Class 2:30-3:00). We are looking forward to our field trip to the Chicago Children's Musuem. If you are volunteering we will have strict guidelines for everyone to follow. We must ensure that everyone is safe and enjoying the museum exhibits. We are predicting that Navy Pier will be very busy and we will navigate to and from the museum as a group. More information for volunteers will be forthcoming! We are trying our best to keep the students healthy by washing hands, disinfecting the room and using our cough catchers. However, we understand that students will still get sick. Please make sure that you are sending a note when your child returns so that they are not receiving unexcused absences. Please remember, that children must be free from fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea a full 24 hours before returning to school. Upcoming Events:

This week the students learned all about Mo Willems, the author and illustrator of some of our favorite books, including Leonardo the Terrible Monster, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus and Knuffle Bunny. As we were reading this week we discussed how the characters were feeling. Mo Willems characters have very clear feelings in their stories and gave an opportunity to discuss feelings as many of our students have been feeling very emotional. When reading with your students try taking with them about how the characters are feeling. Next week begins our month long Gingerbread Man Unit. We will kick of the fun by reading some of the classic Gingerbread stories and a few not so classic stories. If you have a favorite Gingerbread Man story please feel free to bring it in or sign-up to read it to the class! Supplies Needed! We are busy bees and we go through a lot of supplies, we will shortly be in need of the below products. If you have already brought in your supplies, we thank you and you do not need to do so again unless you would like too!
