In light of school safety issues nationally, Ray is tightening security procedures for both student arrival and dismissal. Please understand our purpose for doing this is to keep every student in our school safe and to eliminate the possibility of any intruders
During the entrance, parents will be asked to line up WITH THEIR CHILD outside of the glass doors outside of the annex (door 18). Parents and students will be escorted into the building with classroom staff. Staff will be walking parents into the building at 8:45/1:10 SHARP. If you arrive after 8:45/1:10, you will need to walk to the main entrance to get a pass. Parents will enter the room, help their child take off their coats, sign their child in/out and exit through the classroom exit near the sensory table. For pick up, parents will line up outside of the annex glass doors. A teacher will escort parents into the building at dismissal. Parents will be brought in at 11:20/3:45 SHARP. If you are late, you will need to get a pass from the main office. Parents will come into the room, get their child and leave through the classroom doors by the sensory table. Parents cannot leave through any other door beside the classroom exit. Please be aware that other classes of children may be playing outside so please be aware while you are walking. We are asking for your assistance in keeping the school safe. DO NOT OPEN THE DOORS for anyone, even if you know them. Thank you for your understanding! This week we will be starting our month long study of The Gingerbread Man. We will use this story to explore many aspects of literature including, character, setting and our favorite part. In addition, we will act out the stories and use the idea of adding one on. The children truly love this story and are able to engage with all the different versions. This week we will focus on two classic versions and compare them. During small groups the preschool students will focus on sorting, story mapping and using whiteboards to practice their writing skills. In addition we will be exploring the number 3. Have a wonderful week, Ms. Graham and Ms. Twilley.

This week we will read books written by Numeroff that are less well know like, What Mommies do Best and What Daddies do Best. We will also continue our focus on counting and connecting numeral to quantity. Have a wonderful week, Ms. Weinberg and Ms. Twilley Thank you to everyone that attended our first parent-child activity and parent-teacher conferences. We hope that both events where helpful in learning about our classroom and what type of activities you can do at home with your preschooler. We are in need of recyclable paper for our writing center. One side of the paper needs to be clean so that the children can use it for their work. We would really appreciate the donations. Volunteers: The link below will send you to our volunteer sign up. We would love for parents to come in and help us in the classroom. You must be approved through CPS before helping in the classrooms. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1s6AC2psJgV69EaAl_4PLMWnJyOZPAa-1MSf6GW9CGB0/edit This upcoming week we will be doing an author study of Laura Numeroff.
