Dear Families,
We were very busy in Prek last week! We had a fire alarm and many visitors in the classroom. We have been enjoying studying Goldilocks and the Three Bears and we will do one more week because there are just to many good books left to read. Next week, we will study volcanoes after so much interest from the preschool students. We were going to do it this week but it would have been rushed and I want to give it the proper prep time. If you have any books or personal volcano experiences feel free to share. Valentines Day: We will celebrate Valentines Day in 411 by talking about friendship. Students can bring Valentines for their friends. We ask that students write their own name (it's great meaningful practice for them) on 20 cards. Do not write the other students names on the cards as we will be putting the cards into random bags. We would love to have a parent come and assist with this process if you are available. Supplies Needed! We are busy bees and we go through a lot of supplies, we will shortly be in need of the below products. If you have already brought in your supplies, we thank you and you do not need to do so again unless you would like too! We appreciate even one or two items from the list as well. * Containers of Clorox Disinfectant Wipes * Boxes of facial tissue * Baby Wipes * Rolls of Paper towel * Lysol Raise a Glass for Ray Fundraier Join us for a night out at The Promontory on Thursday February 1, 2018 from 6-8 pm featuring a performance by Bethany Pickens Trio! Hello Parents:
We enjoyed exploring the snow last week! Our snow exploration will be shown on the bulletin boards in the next couple of days. We also started exploring the Classic tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The preschoolers are really enjoying hearing all the different versions and are constantly asking to hear more versions of the story. This upcoming week we will be exploring sizes, big, medium and small. We will also be reviewing story elements. We are excited to continue reading these books this upcoming week. Please remember that we will most likely go outdoors if the weather is appropriate. Please remember to send appropriate winter gear, so that the children can warmly explore outdoors during the long winter months. If anyone has any gently used winter gear (hats, mittens, snow pants, and boots) and they would like to donate them we would really appreciate it. We are collecting box tops for education please bring them in! Thanks, Ms. Weinberg and Ms. Moore We have had a wonderful first week back from break! We spent the week reviewing our classroom rules and routines. In addition, we also reviewed ways in which we can solve our own social problems.
During small groups this week we drew pictures of what our classroom rules mean and worked on patterns. At home, work with your child on recognizing patterns in your daily life, such as a bedtime routine or the stripes on a shirt. Finally, on Friday we had a brief discussion about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We discussed how the without his help we would not all be able to be in the same class. The children thought that was so silly. We read the book "Happy Birthday Martin Luther King" a very preschool appropriate biography. Of course the preschoolers become very focused on how Dr. King died so we also had a discussion regarding guns. Next week we will begin a two week study on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The students were so interested in the Gingerbread Man, that we thought they might enjoy all the many versions of the 3 bears. No School: January 15th for Martin Luther King Day Have a great weekend, Ms. Weinberg and Ms. Moore |
