Another great week has gone by! This upcoming week we will finish up our All About Me Project. We will finish up our family portraits and graphs. We will finish reading the Todd Parr books about family and read different books about how families show love including, Honey, I Love You and So Much.
This week will also discuss how to solve our social problems by finding a new friend. Sometimes when our friends are hurtful they best way to solve the problem is to find someone else to play with. We will read the book, The Recess Queen and Enemy Pie. This will be a skill that the students will need a lot of help practicing. In the upcoming weeks we will be studying apples, pumpkins and gourds. Please help us to collect cool looking gourds for our study. If you spot one at your local grocery store or when you are out apple/pumpkin picking with your family please bring it in to share with the class. We will conclude our study with a trip to Eden’s Nature Center on Monday, October 31st. We will need 6 parent chaperones for each classroom. I have attached the field trip chaperone expectation sheet at the bottom of the blog. Please look it over so that you are aware of the expectations. Please keep an eye out for the detailed field trip form by the sign in sheet. Please be sure you are dropping off and picking up on time. When students are late for drop off they miss some of the most important instructional time of the day. In the morning, student write their name and journal. While journaling we work on inventive spelling and phonemic awareness skills. If students miss this on a daily basis they will not be prepared for the rigors of kindergarten. Also we ask you to please be on time for pick up. If you are late your child will be brought to emergency aftercare where paid staff member watches students after school hours. Here is the Ray late pick-up policy: If a student is picked up late once the guardian will receive a warning, twice they will have to speak with an administrator and three times they will need to pay $25 and will receive written correspondence outlining legal requirements. FIELD TRIP VOLUNTEERS Parent participation is essential in ensuring that our preschool children have appropriate field trip experiences. We highly appreciate parents who are able to assist us on our outings! We want to thank all of the parents who will be assisting us on our trips in advance! On field trips we ask that parents supervise their child along with a small group of other children. We ask that you follow all safety rules and abide by the set schedule especially for meal and departure times. We ask that you assist in buckling all students into and out of their seat belts. We ask that you buddy up with another adult to take children to the bathroom (if needed). We also ask that parents do not take part in any extra activities that are not included in the pre-planned field trip (i.e. going to any show/exhibit/performance that is an extra cost, or purchase treats or toys at souvenir shops). We have children with food allergies and it could be potentially dangerous to partake in treats/food made with unknown ingredients. Thank You, Ray Preschool Staff
